Help Dress to Wear to Wedding this Weekend

Last night my new boyfriend asked me to his sister's wedding which is this weekend! More notice would have been nice - but hey.
I would really rather not have to go out and buy a new dress - but I am not sure if any of the dresses I have are suitable for an autumn wedding. I also have no idea how formal / fancy the do is, although talking to the boyfriend I dont think its going to be really big / posh do - more family and friends in a hotel.
So, my options are:
Dress 1

Its very summery and I have worn in to two other weddings this year already (!). Trouble is I think it may be too summary for an autumn wedding.
Dress 2

A navy dress, just above knee length - its very flatting, but i am not sure its "weddingy" enough - although with some glam silver shoes and a glam bag I think it would look nice.
Dress 3
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x471/WineoftheWorld/silverdress.jpg
A silver / lilac evening dress - but its strapless and slides down - I'd need to buy something to slick it to me (I think I have heard for this kind of tape before). But I could also look really overdressed in it.
Dress 4
http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/x471/WineoftheWorld/Blackandwhitedress.jpg
Black and white dress - its not too formal and I wouldnt feel OTT in it, plus it would be easy to dress up with nice shoes and bag. But this is back and white - the two colours you shouldnt wear to a wedding.
Or - I could go out an get a new dress tomorrow, but I have no idea what would be suitable. Ruling out summary dresses, black dresses and cream dresses doesnt actually leave many options.
Help!!

I'd go with dress 1 or 3 or something else.
Whats your budget for something new? And what colours would you prefer - what shoes/bags have you got to go with etc?0 -
Thanks. I dont have many shoes so will be heading out tomorrow to get some - either black or silver evening shoes. I already have a silver handbag and a black handbag, but again I dont have many bags so again wouldnt mind getting something new.
But re a new dress. I am fairly open minded. I'd not want a long dress - I'm petite so look drowned in anything too long. I'd want to spend as little as possible, especially for a dress that wouldnt be suitable for many other occassions. So maybe 50 pounds max0 -
Do you hav a next near you - they have some LOVELY dresses for under £50!
And black and silver go with most things so there good colours to have
Here's some links...
just some ideas - I love the layered purple one and the one thats black at the neck with the bold colours

I think they're all workable.
Dress 1 you could wear with a warm shrug/fitted cardigan to make it more suited to autumn. You could also consider black tights- it's hard to tell looking at a pic but I think black tights would look fine with it.
Dress 2 would be the dress I'd lean to (as you say it's probably not going to be that formal). The deep colour is well suited to autumn and you could easily glam it up for a wedding with nice jewellery, shoes and bag you already have.
Dress 3 is lovely but I agree it may be a bit too formal in the circumstances, and difficult to dress down. T!t tape is cheap enough to buy but I think it's a bit too glam and may be uncomfortable if you need tape to stop it falling down!
Dress 4 I personally don't see why you couldn't wear it- the mix of black, grey and white makes it perfectly acceptable to wear I think, especially as it's quite casual. If it's cold out it would look great with some black tights. If I was going to wear this dress I would probably wear a bright flower clip in my hair to add a touch of colour, or wear dark purple shoes or bag which would go nicely with the black/white/grey.
I really wouldn't bother getting a new dress- you have plenty of nice ones to choose from and I don't see why you should have to (especially at last minute)! I would go for dress 2 with some silver shoes as you suggested, especially as you describe that one as flattering.0 -

just be carefull - I've been to some very small weddings but they were no less formal dress code than a big one.
I know I'd hate to turn upto a wedding where I didn't really know anyone and not feel like I was dressed smartly enough - and as partner to the brides brother you are a practically part of the wedding party.
Do you know what he is wearing? This might give you an indication of how you should dress?0 -

A very good point. OP if your boyfriend can't find out then I would still wear a less formal dress- that way you could jazz it up with accessories (maybe a fancy hair style too) and if you arrive feeling overdressed some of those accessories could be removed. If you wear a very formal dress then there isn't much you can do about it if everyone else is dressed more casually.
His family would have to be incredibly snobby to criticise what you're wearing, so I'd try not to give it too much thought. I'm sure you'll look great in whatever dress you pick, and it's a good excuse to buy a new pair of shoes and/or handbag, which you can at least rewear. Also remember that you won't be the only person going who isn't sure what to wear, and the best way of finding out is asking the bride herself

Thanks - I have been leaning towards the navy one also.
The next dresses look lovely. There is a next near me, I will defo check it out as those dresses could also be worn on nights out too.
Trouble is that the petite section is usually really small and often doesnt have many dresses in. But I will look.0 -
i like the navy one.0

My boyfriend will be wearing a shirt, trousers and maybe a suit jacket, but no tie.0
