Royal Mail returned to sender too soon

Edit: ignore the title it's meant to say something along the lines of 'returned to sender'
Hi everyone,
I posted a packet on 14th sept recorded first class. Today our postwoman has brought it back, saying it's not been collected from the sorting office and no one was in when it was originally sent. I've phone RM and they say recorded items are only held for a week and are then sent back, which is fair enough but now I have the parcel again!
I've emailed the ebay member explaining this but got no response when I emailed her the other week and so am not expecting one now. I've had no correspondence from her asking where the parcel is or anything although she has left me 'neutral' feedback.
I'm unsure what to do now. I'm adamant that I'm not paying another £5 to send it back to her again, the listing said it would be recorded singed for delivery but I expect soon I'll get an email demanding to know where the book is!
Does anyone know what to do?
Thanks
Helen

Tell her that the parcel has been returned to you, and when she repays the postage amount you can resend the item. Alternatively offer her a refund minus your postage costs. That's what I do when it happens.0

I've had this a few times now. You could ask the buyer to re pay the postage and send it again. Otherwise you have to refund them in full including the postage, which makes you out of pocket.0

You have done all you can for the time being. Wait to see what happens.0

Don't go out of your way to help her if she has left you a neutral already.0

You need to refund her if she is not responding - you will be out of pocket, but you need to do that if you are not going to resend.
It's entirely possible that no card was left telling her she had a parcel received, and this is a drawback of Recorded; maybe if you are doing this for all your items it's time for a rethink."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
