Quoted £17k to retile semi-detached roof with concrete tiles

Is this reasonable? It's a three bed 1930s semi covered in concrete tiles. I was quoted £7k by one firm and £17 by another.

Are either of these reasonable?

what's the roof area and does it have any dormer windows/velux etc?
have the quotes given you a breakdown of labour/materials?

Depends what part of the country you're in. We're in Hull, and have just had our 1930's semi re-roofed for £3700.

Sounds pricey, unless the area is very large and /or velux windows or strengthening is required

should be about 5k to 7k., around here.

Does the £17k quote include a new extension too?

Should be no more than £8k for a semi, except may be a bit more in London

Thanks - really useful. Someone mentioned there might be asbestos in the old concrete tiles and that's why they're asking £17k. Or maybe in case the purlins etc need re-doing.

In case ! does not justify that kind of price. Your location is one aspect. But as mentioned £4-6k should cover it if membrane and new battons are included.
