Help with iPod & iTunes please

I have a 3rd generation iPod shuffle which is doing my head in! I don't 'get' iTunes and syncing etc so want to sell it on ebay and buy a proper MP3 player that I can just drag and drop to like my last one!

I have worked out how to restore it in ITunes - will that be good enough to sell it ie will that remove all the songs and any personal info?

Is there anything else I need to do before I get rid of it?

Thanks in advance for any input :)

Just restore it should do the trick for you

Itunes is a funny old thing, just delete all your itunes lists of music etc, so after the restore the ipod will not be tempted to pull all the info accross again

Thanks, do I restore first then try and delete the list of music in iTunes? Any idea how to delete the music as it took me 10 mins just to find the restore function!

stef73 - I think I'd be happier with a 'drag & drop' style MP3 player so no faffing with other programs. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

Just open itunes and navigate through the "library" menu on the left of the window. Highlight the entries and hit delete
WARNING Just make sure, if itunes asks if you want to delete the files off your hard drive as well, make sure you say no

    Do this before the restore

  • Thanks for your help :) Managed to get rid of the tracks without deleting them from my PC, just charging it up before I sell it and then will take great delight in removing iTunes and the sneaky Quicktime - had no idea how that snuck in but it appeared around the time iTunes was downloaded!
  • Quicktime is bundled in with the itunes installer.
