Transferring files to Windows 7

Hi I have an xp desktop which I want to keep and a wireless Windows 7 laptop. I have transferred my favourites onto the laptop with the help of this forum. I would like to transfer documents, photos ,music and also emails onto laptop. Would it be easier for me to buy a transfer cable to do all of this? I am with Virgin broadband outlook express. I do not have very much computer skills.

  • Depends how much data you have to move. If it is not a vast amount I'd just copy the files onto a memory stick and use that to transfer them.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

how much do you have to transfer? if it is very large a USB hard drive would be best, you can also use this drive to back up all your files so you wouldnt lose them is the worst happened.

if you only have a small amount you can use an online sync service such as windows live mesh (5GB which comes with live essentials) or dropbox (2GB) these would allow you to transfer the files (and if you have more you can deselect the folders after they have transfered and select more new folders to sync) after you can select some important folders you always want to keep uptodate between the computers.
