Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    I might be wrong but i dont belive they "search" anything at all. They will look at your credit file which in it has details from the past 6 years? am i mistaken?

    Yes thats right, your credit file is accessible to them and all creditors for the last 6 years.

    My experience with Equifax is that payment information (month by month) goes back 4 years although accounts stay on for 6.

    Is this right? and is it the same with Experian?

    It might be important if the OP has late payments more than 4 years old.

    thik the op maybe getting at some lenders only search back 3 years on applications?

    They will "search" your file to see how you're managing your accounts, electoral roll etc.....
    Some lenders will only search the last 3 years and if they see something not quite right they'll probably then search the full 6 years, and other like MBNA who will search your credit history for the last 6 years from the moment you apply
