Instant decision credit cards

Hello,

I have been visiting this forum for quite a while now and have found it very interesting and very helpful however, this is my first post. Although I do feel like a bit of a leech asking a question and reading this forum without adding any value myself, here I go (and I promise whenever I learn anything I will share it - just trying to sort my finances atm!) :

Which credit card companies actually give you an instant decision online? I know Egg does, as I have an egg card. I filled in the application and it told me then and there they were going to send me a card (within the next 7-10 days!) :beer:.

The only reason I ask is because I recently applied for an Capital One Classic card - which says it is an 'instant decision' however it is not because after the application they said they would let me know within the next 7-10 days if I have been accepted or not....?? 7/10 days is not instant!

I need a quick bit of cashflow so would LOVE to know if I have been accepted or not after I apply for a card - but I do not want to apply for many of cards which 'claim' they are instant (for obvious reasons). Therefore, which cards (like Egg) actually give you an instant online decison????? Please help Many many thanks

Sometimes they cannot verify your information or they need to refer it to the underwriters.

Most cards don't give you instant decision only if your credit history is not as clear as it should be and they need a bit more time to investigate & decide whether to give you credit or not....

There can be number of reasons for this - your history is good, but you have moved recently, not on electroral roll, your history is on the bottom line for approval according to their requirements...

Not strictly true.

I applied only yesterday for an "instant decision" EGG card and they said they would email me in 48 hours. In all fairness I got an email within an hour saying I was accepted but none the less, not an "Instant" decision.

Hopefully your capital one response comes quickly.

Barclaycard gave me an instant decision 2 nights ago for their 16 month balance transfer card.

It was a "yes" but they didn't say what credit limit I would get.
