Hi all,
My partner signed off yesterday and the jobcentre rang the Child Tax credits to tell them (least thats what my partner told me, he was on a conference call with them both)
But today they have paid in the same payment as normal, even tho i think its meant to be Octobers as they alrdy paid this month at the beginning. Also he said they told him he will get working familes tax credit until April as this year has been low income even though he has now found himself a well paid job.
They also mentioned he may still be able to get council tax benefit but he said surely not, now he will be earning a good wage?
Sooo im confused, are we still entitled to anything as April 2010- April 2011 will be counted as a low income year or should we ring and stop everything? I don't want to claim things im not entitled to then next April then turn round and say 'oh dear we have paid you too much you have to pay it all back!'
No-one seems to really know what they are talking about and the jobcentre don't have any clear answers either!
Many thanks

So he signed off yesterday. I assume the "they" you mention is Tax Credits, yes? The banks would have already set in motion the payment you received today and so they couldn't change it at such short notice.
In my experience you will probably get another extra payment in the next few days and then your new amount will be programmed in and you'll get that each week til April. A letter telling you what your payments will be will follow in about 2 weeks, but you will most likely have started getting the revised amounts by then.
He will also be entitled JSA for the period between his last signing on day and yesterday too. I imagine that will be in the bank in next 3 days.
HTH. I will be signing off in a couple of weeks and st arting to claim WTC so would love an update as to how smoothly the transition goes, if that's ok? Thanks.
It's only a game
