Flying from London or anywhere?0

Oh no!
Never mention 'cheap' and 'all-inclusive' in the same breath.
I've read and heard about too many disasters in 'cheap all-inclusive' hotels.
Inedible food so gusts had no option but to eat out, making that 'cheap all-inclusive'e bargain not so cheap after all.
Check out the reviews on a hotel BEFORE you book.
Hope you find a good (not necessarily cheap) deal.0 -
depends what you see as cheap, if you go cheap cheap the hotel is more than likely to be rubbish and you will end up eating out all the time

People are far too picky these days. I've stayed in all inclusive hotels loads of times, and have always found something nice to eat (usually, everything is nice, but there are a few exceptions of course). And who cares if you can only get two drinks at a time? Just go up more frequently.0

Bit of a sweeping statement there.
I have heard people's own experiences of food in some 'cheap' AI hotels (and experienced it once myself) and, far from guests being picky, the standard of food has been appalling.
Cold (and I don't mean salads), greasy, lack of choice, food mixed up because people can't put serving utensils back in the proper place.
Tables piled high with empty plates and dishes.
And let's talk about the issue of hygiene - I don't want some dirty oick who's not washed his hands since he went to the loo potentially touching food I might eat.
A big part of my holiday is eating food that is local to where I am, I wouldn't want to be stuck in a hotel that served up International rubbish 3 times day.
I don't want to have to 'find something nice to eat'.

you don't actually say if the AI places that you've stayed in were 'cheap'.
The point I and Delwyn were making is that a lot of cheap AI hotels don't put quality food out.
Some do - and that is why I suggested the OP check out reviews first.0 -
"Pollycat": All the AI places I've stayed have been what you might snobbishly call "dirt cheap". And I couldn't fault them. I even tried to fault them... really I did... I read pages and pages of reviews from people like you who probably expect 5* quality at 2* price. And I thought "what the hell" and went anyway. And had a great time, with decent food and lots of free drinks. There are a lot of people out there who are very very stuck up when it comes to AI food. And your last comment about "dirty oicks" just smacks of racism. Perhaps a nice seaside holiday in Eastbourne would suit someone like you better?0

If you'd made the point that you had holidayed in 'cheap' all-inclusive hotels in your earlier post, that would have lent more weight to your post.
However, there was nothing to say that you weren't talking about 5* AI hotels.
As for me expecting 5* quality for 2* price, here's what I said on that very subject on holidaytruths - so you couldn't be any more wrong:I've read many reviews for many different accommodations and what sometimes comes out pretty clear is the often inflated expectations of guests.
If I've paid £750 each for flights, in-flight meals, transfers and 3 weeks bed & breakfast in a 3* hotel in Goa (which I have), I wouldn't expect to get the same level of accommodation as a 5* AI resort in say, Mexico or St Lucia - but some people do expect too much.
I DO expect my accommodation to be clean, kept clean and for most things (electricity etc) to work most of the time.
I've always read reviews carefully and we've never (in 25 years of holidaying in Europe, Caribeean, Indian Ocean & Far East) been disappointed.
I'm not stuck up about AI food at all.
The concept of AI doesn't give me what I want out of a holiday.
I want to wander the streets of the local town, deciding where I want to have a drink and where I want to eat, not queue up for my food like children in a school canteen.
However, I can see where the appeal of AI comes in, especially for families.
I think you need to check your dictionary for the meaning of 'racism'.
I was referring to fellow guests, who may be of any skin colour, religion or creed, who stick their fingers in food on buffets.
I don't need your advice about where to holiday, but thanks all the same.0 -
It sounds like you need a lot of advice and hand holding when it comes to holidaying, but I really can't be bothered to give it to you.
Oh, and you can get cheap 4* and 5* hotels (with AI) if you know where to look.0 -

I can't see where you get your suppostion that I need advice and hand holding when it comes to holidaying, but am really happy that you can't be bothered to give it to me as I doubt it would be of any value.
As for you finding cheap 4* & 5* AI - maybe instead of nit-picking through my posts, why don't you advise the OP where to look?
Now THAT would be good advice and really helpful, don't you think?,0 -
