Hi my son has on contract an I phone 3, he is short of money so I have brought phone off him, He has just had it repaired as slide function did not work. He is O2 so am I. I have put my sim in and all that happens is a picture shows of a connection lead and I tunes on a disc shows,. i have tried to down load I tunes to my lap top but it seems to stop at 16 mins more to down load. My lap top is on a dongle so not sure if that is problem. What am I doing wrong.

itunes is a large file, to be wary of exceeding your download limit
But essentially you are doing the correct thing. You need to "unlock" the iphone with itunes to get it working. Try itunes again, or if someone you know has a better connection, ask them to download it to a USB memory stick for you, and install it off thereThere are 10 kinds of people that understand binary

you need the phone registered to the itunes software. If a restore is/has been done, this will wipe the registration off the device
This is show as needed to be done as the OP said they just have the disc/usb picture on the screen
But sorry, I may have been a little ambiguous with the "unlock" phrase. I did not mean unlock the phone so it is usable by another carrier, as I suspect you think I didThere are 10 kinds of people that understand binary

I thought that iphones had to have iphone specific sims- even if it's the same provider?Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
