Bank account with NO credit check

Hi all,

I am happy to say well and truly getting out of debt, reduced 32k down to 9k in 2 years and starting to live again :-)

I am now at the stage I need direct debits and standing orders so therefore need a bank account rather than just my building society account.

But is there a bank account out there with needs no credit checking at all? Still dont want credit checking until I have seen a copy of my credit report and made sure all debts I have cleared have been noted on the credit report.

HSBC would be good as thats who the mrs banks with but I dont think they offer one without credit checking?

Not bothered about having any sort of card and def no cheque book or overdraft obviously, just want the bank transfer and direct debit facilites.

Looking forward to replies.

Or you could get an instant access savings account with The Coventry which just comes with a cashcard

Do any of the above offer accounts without credit checking or is credit checking done - but the bar is set far lower?

co-op Cashminder accepts bankrupts so they possibly don't do credit checks . please check tho.
  • HSBC. Even if they do a credit check you will be able to get their basic account. And it is basic!!. No cheque book or debit card. Just a hole in wall card and a £200 limit per day. But you can use it for standing orders and dd's

All banks do credit checks, Some for ID purposes and some for credit accounts. So the idea of not getting a search is not gonna happen.

Theres a big difference between a credit check and an identity check. They are not the same thing!
  • I have a step account with natwest, not sure if they do a credit check (no overdraft, just a card, able to direct debits and use online banking). I had a really bad credit history when I opened the account 5 years ago. Now its getting better they keep offering me an overdraft, upgrade to a better account etc, I keep saying thats how I got in debt and stop offering it to me!
