Install extractor fan into double glazed window. Urgent advice needed please!

I am redoing my bathroom, I need an extractor fan as I had bad damp previously.

I need the extractor fan for my bathroom to be neatly fitted into a small double glazed window (approx 35" by 15") as it cannot go into wall due to steel frame running through.

I live in a first floor flat so ceiling mount is not possible.

My builder can do installation etc. but he hadnt dealt with window mounting.

I just need a hole in the window. Does any one have suggestions as to how to go about this and possibly approx cost. I live in London. Many Thanks.

  • Order new D/glazed unit with correct size hole in it, swap with original, fit fan and you're done. One bit advice, when ordering the unit with the hole pay a little extra and get the glass toughened, i've seen these break when mounting the fan, it's less likely to happen with toughened glass.

You need an extractor fan in any event to conform with Building Regs.

SH is correct - new DG unit required.
