I have just noticed today that my bank is charging me £2.50 each time I top up on my online bingo. I got in touch with the bank and it took the person nearly half an hour to come back with the answer, she then pointed out that this was stated on my credit card agreement and she stated that it was section no 20 my credit agreement only goes up to 19. She informed me that I would get this document by post in 3-5days. Can you please help me, as I am a 69year old widow and have no one to help me.

Instead of paying for the bingo with your credit card, why not pay with your debit card. That way the money comes straight out of your bank account (rather than being added onto credit card debt), and the bingo company don't have to pay credit card fees, so it is more likely that you won't be charged the £2.50
Why are you paying to play bingo? aren't there any free bingo sites out there?0 -

Please let us know the details of how you spend your time so we can pull it to pieces (as if juggling money from CCs to savings accounts is that much more of a life than playing bingo).loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
It is possible that your bank is viewing Bingo as sort of gambling. You cannot pay for gambling using your credit card - don't gamble with what you don't have is the basic view of credit card companies towards gambling. It is rule accross most of the credit cards to act as if gambling is the same as cash withdrawal. It is quite possible that you will also find that you are being charged interest at the cash withdrawall interest rate on this.
And ignore the other idiots who think they are something better only because they never played Bingo or got a Lottery ticket. They are obviously bored and come on the forums to make stupid comments rather then to ask question or help people - maybe if they did play Bingo here and there we wouldn't have to waste our time with them here:-))0 -
Like with all gambling, it is basically called a cash advance, because you are getting cash to play bingo, rather than purchasing something.
So basically your credit card company will charge you as per your cash advance terms. That generally means at least a £2.50 charge for doing the transcation, plus you will be charged interest daily on the transcation.
Finally if you have a mixture of purchases and these cash advances and you don't pay off the full balance, with most cards, you will be paying off the purchases first and those cash advances will continue to have interest added daily.
I use to play bingo online and I used to pay by my debit card and have never received a charge.0 -

To be fair, it's just one guy who is being "harsh" - and he's just got an attitude problem in most (if not all) of the threads he posts on - hopefully he'll grow up or get bored and go away so that decent discussion can resume.
Back on topic - as has been said already, you've been charged a cash advance fee for using your credit card to add cash funds to your bingo account. I suffered the same when using a credit card to add funds to my spread betting account - doh!My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

What 69 year old first time poster can't get any help but can start a computer register and post on this site - then doesn't come back for the replies?
(What credit card only charges £2.50 as a minimum cash advance charge?)
These trolls must be getter older by the day LOL0
