I see what you mean onethreehillgirl & it did make me wonder as I posted it .It is new on the competitions page so thought it might be a typo.Nothing ventured & all that.
A similiar date format can be seen here,but an end date has been given.I left the above De'Lopnghi comp until last but after seeing this & took it as a typo.

If you click on the link it provides, you get taken to a separate competition for a coffee masterclass which I presume is the readers' club offer that is quoted above. I think the competition for the coffee machine is for everyone.

Also, the master class competition has a closing date of 13/10/10 and as it is linked to the coffee machine competition, I can only think that the 2009 part must be a typo.
