Hi ladies
I have spent the last day trying to get my head round card making by reading your comments on this lovely thread (and i do mean lovely it sounds like there are some real friendships here which is really nice to see) i just have a couple of questions if you dont mind as i really want to make my own cards...
What should i get to start me off?
Where are the best places to get supplies?
How easy is card making? (i currently make my own jewellery and soap and crossstich so you could say i am already quite crafty)
Why cant you mention the B word on MSE? I get a lot of giggles reading how many different ways you ask ppl to have a look at your "homepage"
Thank you xxSAVE SAVE SAVE!!!0 -

What should i get to start me off? To start with you will need: Card blanks, glue, good scissors/craft knife/guilotine, images to colour ........... the list is endless. I would suggest maybe buying a card magazine like Let's make Cards as although it is about £7.99 you get everything you need to make about 20 cards.
Where are the best places to get supplies? Have a good look around, Hobbycraft tends to be quite expensive. Alot of us use Crafty Emmas Store, Mad about cards, Handy Hippo, The Glitterpot to name a few.
How easy is card making? (i currently make my own jewellery and soap and crossstich so you could say i am already quite crafty) VERY! If you look at my homepage and go to the very first card i made and then look at my most recent :rotfl:Enough said
Why cant you mention the B word on MSE? I get a lot of giggles reading how many different ways you ask ppl to have a look at your "homepage" Because the powers that be don't like us to use it as we are not allowed to promote things (i think)!
Thank you xx

hi ladies sorry i've been awol but i've been concentrating on finishing my cross stitch so left the lappy off and now it's finished. still no baby for my dil. just a huge bill the head gasket went on their car the day she came home . Car's at the garage at the moment bill is about 550 to 600 quid. how much craft stuff would that buy. They have our car in case anything happens lol.
Rusty hope maddison was ok at nursery today. dil is a nursery manager and she says it is a very awkward situation they have to get forms signed by parents when new children start specifically giving permission to wipe bottoms and help with clothing once children are out of nappies.
lovely to see so many people on here.
CT your cards are beautiful . It's very easy to get disheartened . I got the same with craft fairs before christmas gave everything to kaitlyn's school who did very well with it.
I need some advice please i need to know the best place for bag and box files for the robo as i need to try out some different styles for putting sweets etc in for the girls for school at easter and to put some choc's in for kaitlyns teacher for valentines day.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Sorry to hear about your DIL car, hope the baby arrives soon and safely!! Nice to see you back here!!
As for bag and box files have you looked on UKScrappers? there is a ROBO section on there and they have a whole heap of templates for various things!! I probably have loads which you could use, but I just don't bother now and not sure how many I could email to you in one go?
Bananagirl - I agree with the other ladies, card blanks, craft mat and craft mat are a necessity! I would recommend getting Quick cards made easy as there is a 6x6 paper pack free in there and they are good quality and quite pretty (Shhh don't tell anyone I said that as they are mainly pink!) Welcome aboard!!
Thanks for all the help with Maddison, she has gone back in today and I went straight round to see the headteacher, he understood exactly where I was coming from, he also said that they are not supervised at toilet times as there is so many children that they would always be in there!! He said that when they are that age they try to teach them to be independant which I completely understand but I still think there should be some form of supervision! ... anyway he said he would speak to the nursery but asked if I would also do the same so it wasn't left with bad feelings with me towards the nursery staff and also they didn't feel I had gone straight over their head. I did speak to the teacher, and she listened and said it shouldn't have happened, also apologised and then got down onto the floor and sat and had a word with MAddison reassuring her that she can always ask for help etc etc (which I thought was nice as it was like I wasn't there and she made quite a big deal about it etc) So for now I guess it is dealt with, fingers crossed it doesn't happen again or there will be trouble ... however I am back in there tomorrow as Maddison has learned a new word from one of the little boys (f4rted) which she finds hilarious, well my sister and I were brought up not to use that word as it was swearing!!! so I say the same to my children and I am far from happy about this word being used so frequently around a nursery by a 3 yr old!!! GRRRRR is is never ending?
anyway rant over .... hope everyone is ok?
