Hi all!
I'm hoping to move out in the next couple weeks and going to view a flat (like the only 1 bedroom one in this town -_-) it's £65 a week for just the flat. Any tips on how to haggle it down to £60 maybe even £55 a week?
Thanks

On that low rent and the only 1 in town.....No chance. You can cut a few pounds off but the rent needs to be higher in the first place and there needs to be several competing properties. Then you can say well that one has a garage which I don't need and it's the same price so how about £10 off the weekly rent and I'll take yours.:footie:

Mmm true, he seems reallllly keen to get someone in there though as the landlords been messaging me on facebook and linking my to our counties LHA and council website about housing benefits0

Sounds like a bargain! Where can you find a flat for only £65 per week or less than 250 per month?
Not much chance of negotiating on that i'd have thought, if it's the only place going.
Sorry!0 -
A bargain? This is the middle of no where I'm talking about :P
Edit to add: I've looked at flats in Shrewsbury which are the same price and much better surroundings. I'm only looking to move out here due to family and my part time work but to be honest £260 a month seems a bit rash for a tiny little flat0 -
Facebook....how professional. What is the LHA rate? That rate represents the median rent in an area. If you go through the list of rents on that site it gives you the range of rents. So my area 1 bed flats median rate is £91 and they range from £57.50 to £149.50.

My area isn't on that list. I'm in Wales.
The LHA allow £55pw0 -

Yep and those are the big towns.
So anyway then, you can't even offer tips of anything to look out for when viewing the flat? Say if there's damp? or something0 -
You need to find a place that no other (attractive and immediately available) tenant wants.
Then you'll be in a position to negotiate.0 -
Damp...Don't take it. Heating costs through the roof. Just find somewhere else.:footie:
