A company rang out of the blue saying they could claim back my husbands PPI as we was probably mis-sold it.
They say they charge 25% and can get us all we paid by christmas.
Sounds a bit too good to be true, right?

you can do this yourself, you do not need to pay 25% of your refund to anyone if you DIY.
all the help you need to enable you to claim yourself is on this site.
there is no time bar on claims providing you are able to get/have the ppi information/ if not we can let you know how to get this.
if you read through the threads on this site you will see the nightmare that people have had using these claim companies.
please ask if you need help claiming for freeI'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -

They may be legitimate in that they hold a licence but their claims are certainly not and they are the sort of things the ministry of justice warn claims companies not to say. So, on that basis, they sound as dodgy as the rest of them.A company rang out of the blue saying they could claim back my husbands PPI as we was probably mis-sold it.

1 - how do they know it was mis-sold without asking you?
2 - how do they come by the figure of £2000? did they know how much you were paying when they said that?
3 - Their charge is 25% plus VAT. Not just 25%
4 - They are required to tell you that you can complain using the free process. Did they do that?
5 - They are not allowed to suggest a short timescale. In reality, it often takes 6-18 months to get cases looked at. Suggesting "by christmas" is wrong.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi there and welcome, you can use the template letter off this siteOh really!!! Yes i would love some help in reclaiming please. Thank you very much!!
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
or if you find it easier, write a letter to the organisation you are claiming from (put your account number on) and that you were mis sold ppi, then give your reasons
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#checklist
and say that you want all ppi paid to date with interest
How easy is that?. Good luck and please keep us posted.x0 -
I had a phone call from this company last week. When I managed to get a word in and point out that we`re signed up to the TPS and would she please remove our number from her list, she became quite unpleasant and adopted ( what to me ) was a ` Primary School Bully` tone, asking me if I was in the phone book, then saying that I should go ex-directory, before putting the phone down on me !0

Hi Ken
Sorry to hear this.
Did you report them to TPS?
I am registered with these too and have been since about 2004, and ex directory, but it does not always stop them, I do make notes of calls, times, dates etc and report them.
Been getting lots of calls the last few months, have reported the whole lot to TPS and BT, so far so good, and touch wood, its quiet again........for now anyway.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Yes thank you, made a TPS complaint for the first time. And ditto - the last few months have really seen a rise in these phone calls.

hi
my IVA company rang me saying i could see if i had been miss sold PPI, all i had to do was sign a couple of letters and Simms Carmichael would contact my credit cards and do everything for me i wont have to do anything
3 weeks after i had given them permission to contact my credit cards i had a letter from mint asking me to ring them and clarify my new details which my IVA company had already given them, i told Simms i didnt really want to be contacting my credit card companies again and they said i had to do it or i have broken my contract with them and i will have to pay a fine, then the day after they rang me again asking me to go into a mint branch with my address details and later that day they rang me again saying i had to send them copies of my old address on utilities bills from 3 years ago, utility bills like my mobile phone contract from last 3 months which i dont have as i have an IVA and i just pay my flatmate the rent every month so my name isnt on any paperwork, each time they keep saying if i dont do it i will have broken my contract and will be fined, they have sent me an authority letter which says something about there fees being paid seperate? my IVA company never said this would happen and i would be abused and threatened on the phone, im just ignoring them now they can swing for any money off me and im signing nothing they can take me to court claim they money i apparently owe them and make me bankrupt, so much for an IVA company suppose to be getting you our of debt?0
