USA holiday with Virgin - problem with Tesco deals

Apologies if this in the wrong board. Trying to book a multicentre holiday to Vegas/LA/San Francisco using Tesco deals as part payment. For some reason the child price for the holiday is only about 240 pounds (The adult price is 1000+ pounds) and Virgin aren't allowing me to use the full 700 pounds per passenger (aged two and over) towards the holiday. The total holiday price is almost 4 grand!

Does the basic holiday price per person have to be above 700 pounds or can you use 700 pounds per person towards the total cost of the holiday (so including weekend supplements, car hire etc etc). Do different rules apply to children?

The T&Cs are explained quite clearly via a link (re:Virgin) on the Tesco clubcard website.
  • Thanks but I have read the conditions and they don't mention anything about the basic price of the holiday having to be more than £700 - just the list of things that the Tesco vouchers can't be used on.

I have however phoned again and it seems like the first consultant was just being difficult and I have now been able to use the full £700 of vouchers for our son towards our holiday :j

I reckon you have won a watch second time round.
I would have interpretted it as "u p to £700 per persons individual cost" so 2 @ £700 + 1 @ £240 ie total £1640 towards hol where you seem to have got £2100 off the total holiday price

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but can I ask how long your vouchers took to come through?

We ordered our Virgin vouchers on 03/10, got an email saying dispatched on 05/10 and nothing's come through. Rang Tesco and they say normally have to wait 5 days but things are running a little slower right now. And Royal Mail only accept 14 days delay for reporting lost post.

Looks as though when Tesco say dispatched they really mean 'requested Virgin to send out vouchers' - all seems a little 20th Century to be honest having to get a paper voucher, then post it back to Virgin, but that's just me moaning :D
