  • Last night I tried to change my ISA to a higher interest one online with Halifax. All I ended up with was a new ISA account- oops.

So instead I spent my lunchtime sorting it out and somehow ended up with yet another Halifax account. I'd lost the will to live by the time I'd sorted the ISA thing and ended up being talked into a savings account. He promised it's the same as the one I've already got but pays 2% interest rather than virtually nothing. I use it as my holiday saving account so there isn't ever much in it so will see how it goes.

Think I'll need to rationalise my accounts soon, I like having separate ones for different things but this is verging on ridiculous!

Loving the light evenings and the fact I managed to get some exercise outside before it got dark...roll on the summer :)

  • ..how did that happen?

Mortgage now stands at £59114.27 and I'm looking forward to seeing my ISA interest tomorrow, not that I'm expecting much due to the low interest rates. Will be nice to be able to start paying into again though :)

Flat is officially on the market too, all I need now is a buyer and somewhere nice to move to. Best get on Rightmove and see what's out there

  • Yucky dreary weather for June :(. The garden needed the rain I know, and we now have a very full water butt, watering cans, wheelie bin... any other container available to hold water has been filled! Will save a few pennies when watering the tomatoes and courgettes!

Eon have very kindly written to me to advise they are increasing my direct debit each month as I don't have enough in reserve to cover the winter. Will certainly be calling them tomorrow to query this as I have credit on my account and during the last 12 months have consistantly used less gas and electricity than the previous 12 months. Besides it's my money and I want it in my account not theirs! I'm wondering if it's actually highlighting they will be increasing their proces very soon, I think it's time to sort out a fixed deal.

Flat is still on the market :( and I've found (and viewed- ooops) somewhere I'd like to buy but it's over budget and will probably sell before mine does. I must not look at Rightmove anymore.....! Paying off the mortgage and saving hard is a must at the mo, Currently mortgage is £55,599.50, term is down to 6 years and I'm tempted to reduce a little more to increase monthly payments as I'm not allowed to overpay until September. Would love to hit £50,000 when I make the overpayment. Articles in the paper today about interest rates and fab mortgage deals did cheer me up though- there is hope out there I think.

I have to keep reminding myself that's it's a marathon and not a sprint.

    Well done! :T

A nice surprise from the Halifax today, my ISA has been credited with £27.82 interest, I'm not complaining but now I just have to find out why!

Well I think Halifax have paid me some additional interest as I transferred to the higher interest rate on offer during March, so I think they've adjusted the interest paid accordingly.

Due to the price hikes I have just fixed my Gas and Electricity till 2013 with no early exit fee, have been meaning to do it for ages but managed to get the same rate as quoted a few weeks ago so think I got there just in time- phew.

Right, must go and rescue the rhubarb and custard cake that's in the oven...smells yummy!

After weeks on the market I finally have an offer on my flat, not quite what I wanted but I'm being realistic in that it is the only offer I've had. I'm seeing if there's any improvement overnight- it has already been upped by 5k and I'd just like a little bit more if possible.

Also seeing a house tomorrow for the 2nd time, a big old beast which needs gutting as it's disgusting, I can afford it if we are prepared to do the work....but it's a lot of work

So it could be all systems go; scary but exciting.

    xx
