Waiting for exchange, any tips?

I made an offer on a house and have carried out the survey which was ok and am now waiting to exchange. When I initially made the offer the estate agent told me that the seller could arrange alternative accomodation and vacate the property quickly. However, it appears that the seller has now found a new house to purchase and won't exchange until she has the survey back from her new place. I am becoming very desperate to exchange as I have to be out of my rented flat in a few weeks. I would appreciate any advice on what I can do to push things on.

try not to panic - explain to your landlord exactly what is happening - we do like to be kept informed ! if you cannot leave on exactly the day you are meant to - its no big deal, your landlord should know that he cannot get you to leave without a court order, but, if you negotiate with him, i am sure you can come to a mutually acceptable compromise. good luck in your new home

you need to speak to your solicitor to find out how things are progressing, You cant exchange just because a survey comes back ok. There is quite a bit of paperwork which needs to be put in order before exchange.
