Sony Cybershot camera help please!

I have a small Sony Cybershot 5mp camera and I seem to have lost the 'visual' on the screen - I get the display details up but the 'view' is just black and also takes pictures the same even though the lens is open.
Have been back & forth through the menu's (which also displays fine) to no avail. I've pressed reset also to no avail.
Can anyone suggest anything please?
Thanks
C xx

Take it to someone who can repair it, as it sounds like the sensor has failed...0

What sensor please? It's not really worth repairing - you can buy them for £20 these days as it's a very old model (T3), it was just a useful camera to have around
It was working this morning! 0 -
Lots of cameras have a tiny button which turns off the display - are you sure you haven't accidently caught it?0
-
I'm sure - I've pressed that button several times and nothing - it doesn't have a viewfinder but even taking pictures without being able to see the image on the screen shows up just blackness on playback. It's displaying old pics on the memory card perfectly.0

Sensor or chipboard failure- IIRC they're both near the shoot button (I could be wrong) and as such are prone to stress/pressure.... I think Sony had recalled T3's initial batches due to CCD Imager sensor failure- distorted images then black.
Would not bother with a repair, as it would not be cost-effective.0 -
Ah, thanks. Oh well no great loss just annoying!
Cheers all
