Hi, I've just finished having my bike finished for an MOT and was going to apply for my new tax disc on line, when I realised that my log book for the bike is in my old address ( I moved about 6 months ago and unfortunately forgot to send my log book of) do this mean that I can't do anything, I noticed the DVLA to change my driving licence .
Does this mean that I shall have to wait for the log book to come back?

No. Tax it at a Post Office.0

Tax it at Post Office using the logbook plus insurance and MOT, you cannot do it online now. Fill out the change of address ection (section 6) and either you or the PO can send it off for you after you have taxed it. You will get a new (and new version) logbook within 4 weeks to your new address.

Is there another new version out now? I thought the current one was released in 2004 and everyone was sent a new one rather than waiting until a new one needed to be issued.0 -

Hi
You will need to Tax it at a Post Office - but once you have te new log book (V5) you will be able to Tax online next time.
Hope you manage to sort it0 -
Thanks for all your help ,I've made this more complicated than I needed to so I shall try and explain the situation now.
1) My bike needed an MOT and it took them so long that the tax disc run out.
2) I was worried about this so I applied for SORN got form from PO sent it away.
3) I moved about 6 months ago but forgot to tell DVLA new address for bike( driving licence changed but not my log book) so I sent logbook with part 6 filled in with new address and SORN to cover myself.
4) MOT is now complete at long last but I don't have the reference number on the log book as I sent it off and I haven't got a 16 digit reference number for renewal (they must have sent it to my old address.
So now I want to tax the bike but I'm not sure what to do I have insurance but no reference numbers -be grateful for any help please.0
