Quotes for a system boiler replacement

I live in a mid terrace 2 bedroom house outside Edinburgh and my really old boiler was condemned 2 days ago for CO emissions.
I have now had 3 quotes for a replacement system and wanted to get your advice about whether these quotes are good and whether the advice I have been given is sensible.
I live in a house with 5 radiators and I currently have a system boiler for heating and hot water with a separate hot water tank in a cupboard and an electric shower.
Scottish Hydro - £2216 inc VAT
Worcester Bosch 12ri + Plume Management Kit + PowerCleanse (£85). This offer includes 2 years of free Shield cover.
British Gas - £2246 inc VAT
British Gas 330+ (which was claimed to be made by Valient) + Flue pipe extension + Powerflush(£320). This offer includes 1 years of free HomeCare cover and the boiler apparently has 2 years parts and labour.
Local company - £1650 inc VAT
Worcester Greenstar 15 ri + Flue pipe extension. Not sure about length of boiler warranty.
- Are these sensible boilers and sensible prices?
- Is a Powerflush/Powercleanse worth it? The old boiler is 15+ years old.
- The british gas sales guy claimed the other quotes were fitting underpowered boilers. Is this true? (I have 5 radiators and an electric shower.)

Forget BG, I feel he is talking out of his proverbial to try to scare you off the other two!
The greenstar Ri comes with a 2 year warranty as standard, whoever fits it.
From your description of your home I would say the 12Ri is ok, but the 15 is not OTT. As this is so much cheaper, I would go with this if the local guy comes recommended and you feel you trust him.
The Ri is an open vent boiler though, so are they adding an expansion vessel to keep the system sealed?
A proper flush/cleanse is really a necessity and so would be having a magnaclean or similar fitted these days to protect your new investment.
If the system is left 'dirty' then this would invalidate any boiler warranty.0 -
Maybe you need to get a qualified, got quality engineer to examine your existing boiler as it may not be as bad as you think. What exactly is wrong with it and what make/model is it?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
