You don't need to set up an e-mail account - the contacts section is independant of anything to do with e-mail. When you install/setup ActiveSync it will synchronise your contacts on PDA & PC.
Your XDA can send/receive e-mails & it's an idea to set up a separate account for that otherwise you end up with everything being duplicated & you spend all of your time cleaning up. Depends on which ISP you use but it's generally a case of just going to the ISP homepage, setting up an e-mail account there & then use that account for your PDA & nothing else.0 -

it works at work as i have an outlook account there, but i dont want my personal contacts there so want them sorted here.

What doesn't work about Antivesync? the program install or the connection? This is definitely the bit of kit you need as, once it's working, you just plug in & forget - I keep track of my whole business on it with my Vario (the T-Mobile version of your xda-mini)0

OK, in ActiveSync, what do you get if you click on 'Tools' then 'options'? - it should give you a load of tick boxes - one of which should be 'Contacts'. Maybe a silly question but I'm guessing you have Outlook installed on your PC?0

Hmmm. So at the moment your Outlook Contacts do not match your PDA contacts? If you change a contact in Outlook, whilst your PDA is attached, does anything happen?0

Hmmmm wierder. OK, try this, set up a new contact in Outlook - does it appear in your PDA contacts? While you're there, in the 'tools/option' click on the 'settings' button - if this is set to 'replace item on desktop' then it should copy your PDA contacts - give it a go.0
