Plusnet Broadband on BT Router

I am considering joining plusnet but have a router through BT at the moment and would like to know if I need to take a new router from plusnet or whether I can use the one I have already.

Shouldn't be a problem; I have a BT Voyager router and wifi (bought independantly from Argos) and use it for my Plusnet Broadband service.
  • How do I find out the kind of router it is I have?

At the risk of being simplistic - pick it up and look at it/under it - assuming we are talking about the same thing, it will have name/model number which you can google for info if you don't have the paperwork that came with it.
  • If you bought the router from a shop, you will be able to use it.

If you were given it by BT, probably not - especially if it's a home hub.

Plusnet seem to give you a router whether you want one or not - just charging P&P £4.99 provided you stay with them for [?] 12months.

  • If it's a BT Homehub (the large one that stands vertically) then the answer is no, unless you hack it, which I wouldn't advise trying unless you're pretty adept at working with computers.
  • PlusNet *does* work with a BT Homehub. I have this set up at home currently.

Probably something to do with the fact PlusNet are owned by BT.
