Hi again - re Indian visa:

Do read the VFS website very carefully.
If you are doing a postal application (even if you complete it on-line) it should be sent to the Hayes address.
The other addresses are for submitting applications in person.
Some of those centres are only for submission of applications, they send your passport & visas back by Royal Mail Special Delivery or their own courier.
Other centres accept personal submissions and you can arrange to collect them a few days later.

There's lots of great advice about applying for Indian visas on the Goa Tripadvisor forum.

I've recently read on TA that some people have sent applications to Birmingham in error and they have been returned unprocessed.

    Have a great trip.
  • VERY IMPORTANT WHEN APPLYING FOR INDIAN VISA

Make sure your signature on the application form matches the one in your passport or they'll throw it out, they can be a real stickler for that.

..... and don't make the mistake of sending a cheque or everything comes back too!!! Postal order seems easiest, even with the Post Office commission.

If you apply on-line you can pay by credit card and so avoid paying poundage on the postal order.

Another advantage of applying on-line is that you can track the progress of your application.

Make sure you make a note of the RM Special Delivery reference number on the envelope that you send your applications in, your application reference number and the RM Special Delivery reference number on the envelope that you enclose for return of your documents.
  • Once again the users of this site are fantastic, all the advice will be taken into account when we apply, probably on line, for this visa. Just for information, I have today phoned the cruise line direct, rather than the agent, who by the way I applaud for finding a great way of making mega bucks, just a minute while I take my tongue out of my cheek.....the cruise line have informed me that we DO need visas for every country visited whether we choose to stay on board the ship or not, otherwise they will not allow us to board!!!
  • For everyones information, I did just as suggested, filled in the application on line (used cruise line for one Indian sponsor and UK Embassy for the other), paid on line, £39.05 per person, made sure photographs were on white background, signatures matched the ones on our passports on the printed off forms, sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery both ways, £11.00 (noted the references on both the envelope to them and the self addressed one inside) to the Hayes office. Sent last Wednesday 27th October, checked their website on Monday 1st November where it stated all had arrived on 1st November and have received visa endorsed passports back today Thursday 4th November....fantastic, no problem thanks to all the advice I followed on this site....Many thanks will enjoy my holiday worry free!!!!!!
