Council Tax - Renting with a student

Hi, first off sorry if this is in the wrong section wasn't sure where to put it.
I'm looking at moving into rented accomodation with my student friend. I am self employed and take home roughly £300/week.
I know that he doesnt have to pay council tax, but if I live there then does council tax apply, is it the full ammount or can we get it discounted?
Thanks!

You would get a 25% discount for single occupancy (as the student is essentially disregarded when counting the household).0

As loubel says, you will have to pay 75% of the council tax. You and your friend may come to some agreement to share it, but just remember the student has no responsibility for the CT as far as the council is concerned.0
