hsbc flexi loan ppi

i took a flexi loadn out with hsbc in 2001 and was sold ppi, the job i had i was only in for about 4 months i suppose , i later lost my job as the company shut the shops down and sold via the internet but quickly found more temporary work , then a perment job which again i had my hours cut right down to virtually nothing (badly they never gave me a proper contract, my own fault for not nagging i guess) in the end i worked just 12 hours a week, but by then id had my first son and couldnt afford to pay for him to go to a childminders so i could find full time work (my husband works you see and we are not entitled to any childcare help), when i first had my hours cut i told the insurance people i was struggling and i was about to be in a situtaion where i could no longer work i was told the policy didnt cover my situation, as i had in effect made myself redundant (being on maternity leave!) so i cancelled the ppi but even that after about 4 months they where still taking it, so i had to complain.
What i want to ask is do you think i should have been able to claim because i was lead to believe that if i lost my job or was forced to leave then i could make a claim! many thanks fr any help , laura x

Hi there, sorry to hear about your job situation. With your first job you should have claimed on the ppi then, your job situation has changed a lot since then so unless you were made unemployed and were claiming jsa then you would not be able to claim i am afraid, maternity leave does not count. Look at the reasons for mis sell herei took a flexi loadn out with hsbc in 2001 and was sold ppi, the job i had i was only in for about 4 months i suppose , i later lost my job as the company shut the shops down and sold via the internet but quickly found more temporary work , then a perment job which again i had my hours cut right down to virtually nothing (badly they never gave me a proper contract, my own fault for not nagging i guess) in the end i worked just 12 hours a week, but by then id had my first son and couldnt afford to pay for him to go to a childminders so i could find full time work (my husband works you see and we are not entitled to any childcare help), when i first had my hours cut i told the insurance people i was struggling and i was about to be in a situtaion where i could no longer work i was told the policy didnt cover my situation, as i had in effect made myself redundant (being on maternity leave!) so i cancelled the ppi but even that after about 4 months they where still taking it, so i had to complain.
