  • My friend downloaded it to try going to Portsmouth (from Exeter). For some very strange reason it decided to send him via. Bristol!

    On another note,
mzl.aizjznls.320x480-75.jpg In that picture, the cars going 56mph approaching a roundabout... either it's false or that was one hell of a stop in 60 yards!

Here it is on Google Maps

    Still asking for payment details

  • I downloaded the Free Sat Nav App for iphone/ipad from iTunes (Navfree UK & ROI) today and used it on a short trip to York. It wasn't perfect, but then no Sat Nav that I have ever used has been. This Navfree app worked very well on my iPhone 4 and my only concern was the drain on my battery, which usually lasts a few days. If I was using this as app regularly for long periods then I would need a charger for my phone in my car. Have any other users noticed the drain on their iPhone battery from using this app?

I would definitely recommend this Navfree app!

You can get a car charger off ebay for under £2! I think mine was £1.99 free P&P shipped from HK

I suppose it would be. If you had it stuck right in front of your nose. No different to the TomTom that sits in the bottom right-hand corner of my screen. Or the iphone (hey!) that sits in the bottom center.

Some common sense as to where you stick it - insert joke here - is all that's needed.

There is a big difference with an Ipad and a iphone/satnav size.

  • Has anyone else had this problem? Not sure how everyone has managed to download this so-called 'NavFREE' app, as every time I've tried to download it onto my iphone, payment details are requested, even though it is a free app. How can this be? So I tried downloading it via my pc/USB cable and the same thing happened again.
Tried calling the 'helplines' - both Apple and O2 - but each has referred me back to the other - and both say they can't help.

I have just updated my iphone and also lost another free app in the process - Sky Sports, which is also asking for payment!
    Please can anyone advise?

I'm not really sure why you're having this problem. I just downloaded it to my computer then synced it with my phone no problem. No charge, just had to activate UK map and then re-start the app, not sure what to suggest really.

I've just downloaded this, thanks OP. Will give it a thorough testing over the next few days and feedback, but so far looks pretty good.

The App has mixed reviews on the App store. I've downloaded it and will see what it's like - obviously it would seem pretty ungrateful to complain about a free app though.

I think common sense has to prevail though; if you need Sat Nav for your job or you do a lot of travelling then surely it's better to spend a bit of money on getting a paid for Sat Nav - if you're just wanting confirmation of a route then this could well be useful.

Bear in mind if you've never had a Sat Nav before though that none are 100% accurate. Often my built-in one in my car would send me in completely the wrong direction if I didn't already know where I was going.

This is a great idea but be warned, the app itself is not entirely reliable: there are lots of missing postcodes and therefore you shouldn't rely on it. I suppose you get what you "pay" for!

Thanks - managed to download it now, plus some other apps.
