I am looking at updating my RAM, have been on crucial and it states that they cannot locate what type of ram i have, i am running windows ultimate 7 and can go up to 8gb. I am using a sony vaio VGN FW5, which has ddr2 800mhz ram. I currently have 2gb which is shameful and am looking at this item on Play

You need SO-DIMM for a laptop, it's a different (physical) size to desktop memory.0

Use SIW ,a free download- http://www.gtopala.com/ , which will say how many slots and what size ram module each slot.
2GB isn't shameful and I think you will hardly notice any difference if you install more.0 -
