I was told it not their problem because i was week off tough..., manager was very unhelpful and so was someone (i didnt take her name) on the phone when i phoned to the head office, supposedly from customer relations, Now im not being funny i have had excellent service from argos before (thats why i always recommend everyone and anyone who wants to buy some electrical goods) so i was very suprised at how dismissive they were in helping me out when something expensive as a laptop needs a repair, The laptop has a fault were by if u close the lid it restarts it self, it has had it for a long time but i didnt bother as it took a bit of force for it to go of, now it gradually has become more sensitive little bit of tap on the laptop may lead to the laptop reseting as if their is a loose part inside.
it is a £400 acer laptop
Anyone know what i can do? any advice?:o

Weird that, I have a £450 acer from argos which developed faults within two months - took it back and the teenager on the customer service desk told the manager it had a virus (bloody genius - didn't even try to turn it on!) and on his say so she told me they weren't interested. I called head office who said the store had dealt with it so they couldn't do anything, called acer who said to take it to the store.... Ended up having to pay an independent to repair the damn thing, will never use argos again for computing purchases.0

Have you checked the settings, it might be set in there to restart on closing the lid. You can change it to do nothing, it's usually in the same place as the power settings try right clicking the battery icon in the taskbar and going to properties or settings and see if you can change it.0

definately not the settings, it seems like something is loose, a slight tap can make it restart or the screen to go completely blank0

What have you asked them to do, fix it, repair it?
They are strictly doing nothing wrong as you are out of warrenty (you shoul have took it in earlier). However, you are covered under the Sales of Goods act for up to six years if an item is not fit for purpose. However, you have to prove that it is an inherant fault with the system, so if you coud find other cases of this problem you might get them to act but I wouldn't hold your breath.0 -
You prove it with an independent engineer's report, not by going on the internet and finding other people with the same problemSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
