Transferring Web domain.

I'm having a nightmare with Nildram and want to get away asap.

They currently provide hosting, webspace and broadband.
(Thick question: is domain hosting and webspace the same thing?)

I have asked for a transfer code from Nildram and they have got back to me asking for an IPS tag. Once I give them this what happens to my website? Will I experience any disruption?

Thanks in advance.

domain hosting and webspace (webspace=web hosting) are most definitely not the same think.

The domain is simply an address on the internet. The web hosting is a location for storing web files. The domain points to the host.

If you leave Nildram, not only will you need to find another domain host, you will need another web host, although these could be the same provider.

The IPS tag simply identifies a new registrar for a UK domain, e.g. .org.uk or .co.uk

Once you find another host, you will need to copy your files across, and ask them for an IPS tag. You may need to update the name servers also if you use different providers.

You will experience disruption as soon as Nildram "de-tag" or when the relevant name-servers are updated.
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!
