Cash or Replacement

I bought a Merino wool top last November costing £25 in the sale and it has only been worn and washed 6 times max, it has gone into holes, I have returned this to the store and they have told me that they do not have any more of the exact item but if I want a replacement I have to pay £40 extra.
Advise please

outwith the first 6 months the burden would be on you to prove the item was faulty.

They can offer a replacement on a like for like basis and i believe they can ask you to pay the difference if its for a better item. However they can also provide a partial refund.

Have you asked about this instead?
