I flew with BA and when I got home I found that my bag was damaged from inside. I tried to look on the web site, but I could not find info on how to make a claim. Tried their helpline, but it keps cutting me off "due to strike and volcanic ash".
I wrote a letter, but they told me I should have done it within 7 days and refered to me to their terms and conditions. But how the heck am I supposed to know their procedure, I did try to call.
Now BA will not pay up. The baggage was find from outside (cloth), but inside the shell was broken.
The luggage costs £25. It is small enough to write off, but I am angry about being ripped off.

Just incase anyone is reading this wondering what to do if your luggage has been damaged and you can immediately see it on collection - take it straight to a help desk near the baggage returns and fill in their forms there and then. I had my new case within 2 working days- I flew monarch and the bag was a Tripp case replaced with samsonite! Brilliant service:)If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0

I disagree. They could have pointed me in the right direction e.g. you need to put it in writting etc...No amount of telephone calling would have resolved this issue. Why didn' you look at the Ts and Cs for guidance as to your actions?
Hindsight and experience is a wonderful thing. However, I was looking under the lost / damaged luggage section of the web site. (however, the lost/damage section did not help me, as you could only proceed with your claim if you a claim number and you found your bag damaged on arrivals).
In my case the baggages was fine from the exterior, but it was damaged from inside. I am surprised how I got it home!
Who would think you need to look at the Terms & Conditions eh? Not the obvious place to look!0
