Lash Extentions/Growth mascaras: did they work for you?

OK, from what I can see there are now several lash enhancing mascaras on the high street:
Rapid Lash
Cargo Lash Activator
Rimmel Lash Accelerator
Revlon Grow Luscious
Has anyone had any luck with these?
I have been using Rimmel every day twice a day sometimes (after the gym/when reapplying to go out), its been 3 weeks now, it promises noticable difference after 2 weeks and a big difference after a month. (I have one week left then).
I have to say I noticed a slight difference. I wouldn't say its the 117% as promised though! (I think I'd get my lashes tangled if they more then doubled in legnth!- I think anyone would!:rotfl:) I'd say the growth is maybe 2mm? if that.
Other wierd side-effects I had were itchy lashes! Where the lashes meet the rim of my eye, both upper and lower lash lines were quite itchy for the first two weeks, they are fine now.
I didn't find the mascara gave me enough volume, it was not thickening and I felt I needed more on, but it clumped pretty quickly so I have a more pared down lash look. I am used to using Maybelline Colossal mascara which does give me a big oomph so this was definetly noticable. However the Maybelline mascara doesn't promise any growth so had not used it.
What I want to know is; has anyone else tried these lash treatments and have you had any luck?

Bit pricier but Clinique High Impact really does work. Maybe buy it (new) off ebay to save a bit of cash when trying it?0

I have this- prefered the old formula which I loved (the one I have now flakes and badly!) it doesn't promise lash growth though- have you tried any of the mascaras that promise to make lashes grow longer?0 -
Latesse (not sure on spelling) is a new product that is being advertised but I think you need a script for it.0

Lilash has been proven to work. Its expensive though.
If you want a natural alternative then castor oil applied with a mascara brush is meant to have the same effect.Make £10 a day challenge (August) - £175/£3100 -
I have used rapid lash. It says you get results in 8 weeks but by 8 weeks all I noticed was the lashes had become very dark. I almost gave up then but I found it on ebay at £26 instead of £40 in Boots and carried on. At 11 weeks, I have to say that they are much longer than they were - even OH has noticed. When I wake up in the morning it looks like I already have mascara on, which is really nice
I never used it on the lower lashes to make it last longer but as it happens, I guess when you close your eyes at night, some of the stuff must go on them from your upper lids and the lower lashes also are black now, whereas they were very fair and unoticeble before - even if I had them dyed at a salon you couldnt see them.
The other thing Im pleased about - I used a bit on my eyebrows(Im dead tight, that may be why it took so long for it to work?) Many years ago Id over plucked and had a thin line only really, particularly on one side. I just filled them in with pencil but now I notice that the eyebrows are actually thickening up - the one prob is that a lot of the new hair is blond (well, probably grey at my age
) but I can always have that dyed. Im just pleased not to have those thin lines any more. 0 -
i have mega short lashes and have tried loads of different mascaras that claim to make them look longer..sadly nothing has worked, being too skint to try the expensive lash serums etc, i just started putting a bit of vaseline on my lashes each night, then combing with a small brush (one of the 10p toothbrushes from tescos!:D and within a week they started to look a bit longer...i also use eyelash curlers (which i heat with my hairdryer) and that helps give the appearance of longer lashes....but what i'm really gonna save for is......permanant lash extentions!!! my sis in law had them done for her wedding...not cheap tho..about £70-80..but they last for around 3 months and most salons do a top up for £30...(in my sis in laws case it was pretty much getting a full set again but still charged only £30) they look amazing!!! and hardly wears mascara now...(so there is a bit of saving!!):rotfl:totally a tog!:D0

I was nervous of doing that as so many people say that it weakens their own lashes.0

I got advised against it in a salon, apparantly they're very high maintenance and can cause problems i.e. can't get them that wet (swimming, showering, make up remover, sweating etc)
Has anyone else got experience of them?
I did really want to have it doneWar does not determine who is right - only who is left.0 -
ooh i'd not heard that, maybe it varies on what you can do depending on the brand of eyelashes/glues the different salons are using??
i've asked her and she's done all the above:D of course she had them on when on her honeymoon so was in a pool/the sea every day for nearly 3 weeks and different climate/humidity didn't seem to effect them either.
she says the only downside is as they wear off/fall out when your own ones grow though, she felt she had more lashes on one eye than the other...so next time she will get them redone a week or two earlier than this time..totally a tog!:D0 -
A friend of mine does them professionally and yes they can be high maintenance. You have to be very careful what make up remover you use and 3 months is very optimistic. They may need doing every 6 weeks or so for some people.
I haven't been tempted yet. I've settled for dyeing.0
