We are thinking of buying a 4 bed 3 reception room house with plenty of land which needs updating. We have no idea of cost for a brick double garage, LPG heating (no mains gas - storage radiators at present - is this the best choice??) and a rewire. Can anyone give us some idea of costs please?? Thanks.

very rough budget costs?
5k for each project.
depends a lot on where you live?Get some gorm.0 -
If you've got a lot of land have a think about putting ground source heat pump in - rather than lpg heating. It's more environmentally friendly and by the 20th October we'll know whether the Renewable Heat Incentive will be going ahead - if so it will provide a good long term investment.
You'll be looking at around 15k investment but you'll get money back every year for the power you generate, similar to the Feed in Tariff.Target of wind & watertight by Sept 20110 -
be very careful
there was a radio prog on the other day about this form of green energy. the industry is rife with charlatans and just plain bad installers.
some of the audited returns were pathetic. unlikely to ever pay back the installed costs.Get some gorm.0 -
4k for rewire
16 k for quality brick garage with pitch tile roof0 -
I would also reckon £3.5k - £4.5 k for the rewire
You could use the new DUO HEAT heaters from dimplex- they can be worked from a programmer like a normal heating system and look a lot better than standard storage heaters
It would be a lot cheaper than oil to install
