Boiler Electrics

Hi Everyone,
We had a new boiler fitted earlier in the year.. the guys fitting the boiler hooked it up to the downstairs ring main by simply adding a junction box and running it off as a spur.
But seeing as we're having anew kitchen fitted, I'm wondering if the Boiler should be put on it's own RCD when we have the kitchen electrics down.
Also what MCB rating fuse would it need to go on? it's a Worcester Greenstar 30CDi.. I'm guessing it'd be a 3Amp MCB.
Cheers,
Tom

I'm assuming that the people who fitted your boiler were competent. If your boiler required its own MCB, then it can be assumed that competent people would do this. The reason they didn't do this is because it doesn't need its own MCB. Having its own FSU is entirely correct.
So why would you have it on its own MCB?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Hope its easily accessible then.TomBridges wrote: »........... ring main by simply adding a junction box and running it off as a spur.

Should have spmething looking like this there..with 3 amp fuse ..weather with or without the switch. i dont know

ps you can get them with neons as well ..then you know that the power is to the boiler ..when its goes dead on you.
all the best.markj0 -
Well you know that there's power at the switch anyway.aboard_epsilon wrote: »ps you can get them with neons as well ..then you know that the power is to the boiler ..when its goes dead on you.

The neons can fail as well so don't assume because the neon isn't lit that the circuit is dead.0 -
Hi All,
Yes they were competant fitters. Yes it has it's own Switched Fuse Connection. And yes the junction box is easily accessible.
The reason it wasn't originally put on it's own MCB is because we didn't have a modern CU at the time.
It really doesn't matter to me if it has it's own MCB or not. I just thought it might be a good idea.
But i suppose if it only draws that small ammount of amps then it isn't an issue.
