advice with right to buy council house and trying to purchase mother in laws house.

Hi,

We are looking to possibly purchase my partners mothers council house that she has lived in for 20-25 years as we are told she will get a big discount as an investment for our childrens future. We would hope that it is as easy as us paying the mortgage and mother in law carries on living there.

Would ideally like some advice on the situation from anyone who has done this or knows about this stuff.

How easy is it to do?
is there any laws preventing this?
I know that it would have to be in her name, but would i be able to pay the moprtgage on her behalf?
How soon before it can be put in our name?
What sort of discount should we expect?

Mother inlaw is goign to enquire about buying it next week, so waiting on response really at the moment.

cheers
Waddle you do eh?
