My MFW diary to reduce mortgage as much as I can

Tks for PM'ing me about Bingoport MG.
Well i've had a great MSE, no-spend weekend
Yesterday I roasted a £3 chicken i had in from Aldi and had some with some roasted veg from stores last night. Had a bit more of it today too, for Sunday dinner.
The meat from the thighs is going to go into a curry and the carcass/bones has made stock for soup/stew for the meat from the wings and other little bits.
I also baked a load of cookies yesterday and some rock buns today, to put in my work lunches. 2 big tins full of home made cakes mmmmm.
I have also listed a few things on ebay that have watchers but no bids as yet. HopefullyI will get bids as the days go by.
I'm hoping to OP £400 this coming week. Can't do the max £500 this month as I bought a new smartphone a couple of weeks ago - an Orange San Francisco.
My friend on Orange got it for me on offer at £79.99 as they are on Orange PAYG. I have unlocked it and de-oranged it so it's a fully functioning unlocked phone now. I have also gone SIM only with giffgaff which is only costing me £10 a month for 250 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited data
Giffgaff are sending out another SIM and if I give it to someone and they activate it they get £5 free credit so if anyone's coming to the end of a contract and is looking to go SIM only I may have a spare SIM soon. PM me if you're interested (hope i'm allowed to say this - i don't work for them or anything, just looking to see if I can help someone out.)
So glad I didn't get an Iphone in the end, I do like the look of them, but am perfectly happy with this SF phone for about a sixth of the price and no long contract. :j#39 - Save £12k in 20250 -
Wow Linz, you are making great progress. The cakes sound yummy too, I've had to stop baking as much as last year as I was enjoying the end product too much and all my clothes were starting to get a bit tight- ooops! Have you looked into moving any more?
Sleepy head x0 -
Hi Sleepyhead,
No I haven't not yet, i'll start thinking about it in the spring I think, my fixed rate ends on 31 May so i'd quite like 2 or 3 months on the SVR and being able to pay as much as poss so that I don't have to borrow as much for the next place. Hope your house hunting is going well, i'll look up how you're getting on.
I'm lucky in that I seem to have a fast metabolism & can eat cakes (within reason) and not put on weight. It helps walking (fast) to work and back and my weekly swimming session where I always come out absolutely shattered. Used to swim a lot in my younger days so still have the technique just not as much stamina.
Anyway, back to my rock bun..:o lol#39 - Save £12k in 20250 -

£400 O/P made today. Downside is it leaves me with about £80 to last the rest of the month! :rotfl:Should be ok though, only 'big' spend is petrol this weekend but can always stick it on the credit card and pay it next month.#39 - Save £12k in 20250

Wow - top stuff! Well done.
A credit card works for me for managing cashflow.

Many thanks to Mbbetter for drawing up this cool chart for me showing how much difference my OP's will make over the year

This is assuming I can stay on or as close to £500 OP's pcm.
No overpayments: Mortgage end October 2024
With overpayments: Mortgage end August 2015
Will probably be moving house later this year though and borrowing more so that 2015 date will prob not happen unless I win the lottery ! but nice to know how much a difference the OP's make.
Thanks again #39 - Save £12k in 20250 -
Wow that's amazing! It makes all the effort worthwhile when you see it like that doesn't it?
