Anyone got V cheap Argos phone?

We were given an argos value range cordless phone, which is ok.

Last week our phone & broadband went off after a storm. It's now been fixed but while it was off the phone seems to have died. It seems to have no power going into it.

It seems a bit of a coincidence that it died at the same time the line was down, i'm thinking maybee I need to reset it or somthing.
We don't have the instruction booklett.

Any ideas?

    More likely a nearby lightning strike has travelled up the line and blown the base unit.
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    I thought about that, but for at least a day after the storm the handset kept saying "searching".
