Google "convert mp3 to audio cd format freeware" and you'll get some software listed.

Victor2 - many thanks - just downloaded some software and hey presto. I don't normally kiss strangers but .... :kisses3:
  • Or you can use Roxio software instead.

Sorry it mean seem that I'm pushing Microsoft, I'm not.

A blank CD is a blank CD. If its marketed as data or music use only then that is nonsense. The CD doesn't care, data is data pure and simple. Nero and others just help us to get the data in the correct format before pressing go.

It is likely given the age of your car that the stereo car does not support mp3 format. It is also possible that your stereo will not like some brands of CD's, for example the Philips brand is very fussy as opposed to JVC, Sony & Panasonic that to my knowledge like everything.

If you don't change the stereo head unit then your options are limited.

Record (burn) to CD in CDA format, Windows Media Player v10 and above will do this as will Real Player as will numerous other players.

As for why you have problems with an mp3 album already in your collection. When you select "burn/copy" make sure that you select "cda" or "audio" and that the CD "finishes" at the end. If this doesn't happen then it won't play as your cd player cannot find the end.
  • Also, just beware as some stereos do not like recorded CDs. In my previous car, it use to play them for about 30 mins, then stop working due to overheating. It was a 3 series on a 53 plate, but still caught me by suprise.

Same story for a SAAB 9-3 on a 51 plate. The manual in this case specifically warns against using CDRs.
