Mortgage payment break and benefits

Hello all,
I've just been made redundant and am considering whether to take a 3 month mortgage payment break from the Halifax, moving on to interest only payments after 3 months.
I plan to sign on for Jobseekers allowance immediately and know I can claim for interest only payments via JSA (jobseekers allowance) after 13 weeks. My question is: will they still start paying my mortgage interest payments after 13 weeks if I have had this break from payments during my qualifying 13 week period?
Thanks for any help!

    Gone ... or have I?
  • I am a 62 year old Electrical estimating engineer who is about to be made redundant. As I have been employed since the age of 15 all this is new to me. I have 3 years to pay on my mortgage but have an isurance scheme in place with my mortgage provider. My wife has not worked for the past 20 years due to caring for her mother and then 12 years ago suffered a brain haemorrhage and finds it difficult to read and deal with some things. We have not claimed for any benifits as my wage was sufficient to support us both. We dont have any savings and only an outstanding £500 on a credit card. I would appreciate any advise you could give me. I have only been with my present empoyer for about 7 years.
