My wife is an ofsted registered child minder. We have two children. According to ofsted, our two children are included in my wife's total allowed numbers.
Question is this.... Can I claim childcare vouchers for my own children when looked after by an ofsted registered child minder ie my wife?
Reckon the answer is no, but I can't find anything that says I can't0 -
It is spelled out in http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/leaflets/ir115.pdf at the foot of page 10 (I can't get it to copy properly).
The answer is yes, provided that the care is not provided in your home AND other children are cared for on a commercial basis.
If the care is provided in your home, then no.0 -

If your wife works from your home then no.
If she works from elsewhere and she is giving registered childcare (i.e. there's a contract, payments made, your children have all the same paperwork as her other mindees) then yes.0 -
Yeah, it's at home.
Well, worth a shot

Hi Mollies Mum
My wife is a childminders and can take Voucher, currently register with 2 schemes, she didn't have to do a course, just be OFSTED registered.
It makes things easier for both parties, but does make it traceable, maybe your childminders prefers untraceable cash.0 -
Hi...having read about the newly proposed Tax Free Scheme due in Autumn 2015 I have some questions that I am hoping you will be able to help with.
With our baby due in summer 2014 we will apply for the existing childcare vouchers with a plan to use them from around summer 2015 when the maternity leave finishes.
Since the new scheme will start at the same time, we think we will be better off on it.
Should we wait for the new scheme and not collect the vouchers now?
If we do collect the vouchers could we redeem them whilst registered on the new scheme?
I hope someone will be able to help out.
Thanks.0 -
We have paid our childcare provider too much in vouchers. I don't think we are going to use up what we have paid them before the school summer holidays. Is there any way for them to return the surplus to our voucher provider so that we may use it with alternative childcare in the future or is it lost to us now?0

Yes, they can do that. Not everywhere is happy to though!0

Anyone ever tried to get money back from a voucher provider? We have about £300 sat in our voucher account and want it back! Our kids are of the age where none of the childcare/holiday clubs etc are OFSTED registered (local leisure centres etc) so we can't use it. We stopped paying into it over 2 years ago but the company refuses to give it back. I realise it was tax-free so it needs to go back through my employers' payroll, but they simply refuse and tell me we have until our kids are 16 to spend it!! What use is that? Just refund it to my employer so they can tax it and we can move on! I realise they don't want thousands of people asking for refunds etc, but we have made it clear we won't use it, and have even asked to close our voucher account to prove it, but they just won't budge. It's Kiddivouchers if it makes a difference. Anyone got any advice? There must be a process to refund it, otherwise what happens when my kids get to 15? Do they take my money?0
