Seeking advice concerning oven.

Hi, I purchased an oven on 13th june and since we have had it, we have noticed a puddle of water which builds up underneath and starts to pool out. It seems to be when the main oven is in use. We left it for a while to try and establish where the water was coming from, thinking maybe it was condensation from being stored in a warehouse, hence never got back in touch with comet.
This is now becoming a regular thing, and watermarks have now started forming on the kitchen floor. Last night, I decided to phone them, as these marks are starting to look unsightly.
The water must be coming from the oven, as when we pulled it out, there was no clue as to where it had come from. I have tried to be aware of when I clean the top of the oven, as I thought maybe water was trickling down the side, but there is no water on the side, so it has to be the oven.
I was told by the aftersales team that an engineer has suggested to firstly, leave the oven to warm up for long enough, which I do, as there is a light to tell you its the right temperature, and secondly, to slightly tilt the oven back so that the condensation runs to the back of the oven and should turn to steam.
Thankyou if you have read this far, but I would really like your opinion.
Am I letting them fob me off?
Would you be concerned and is it normal that an oven would create that much water? Is it safe?
Should I demand my money back?
Is this just a bad design and I'm stuck with the oven.
I really dont know what to do.
Im trying to pluck the courage up to phone them again, because Im not happy, but Im not very good at wording, and like to know what Im talking about, so they cant fob me again.
If anyone can help me or lead me to the right place, I would so appreciate it.
Thankyou

  • my sister had the same problem with her oven
apparently it was condesation - however she bought a new one and the new one has NEVER leaked
I believe it was somehting to do with inadequate seals on the oven door

Hi, I already dont put anything in the oven, until it is the correct temperature.
What concerns me, is if the condensation is running to the back of the oven, is it safe, ie water and electric mixing and would it not make the oven rusty?

Hi, yes, to tilt the oven! I phoned them back to say these hadnt worked and I quoted the sale of goods act, as I have had this oven less than 4 months, to which he quickly replied that they were entitled to try and fix the problem first, so I am waiting for them to come out next thursday to replace the seal. Im not sure that this will work, to be honest, I think it is just a bad design, but we will see. Will post the outcome!
