Facebook for BlackBerry App - Contacts problem

Hi all.
Using a BlackBerry Bold 9700 with the Facebook app, it used to periodically perform automatic updates and update my contacts in my phonebook with the current Facebook picture, or if I added a new phone contact and I was friends with them on Facebook it would automatically ask if I wanted to link them together.
Now it seems to have stopped! Tried uninstall/reinstall, rerunning the app setup wizard, making sure the correct option was ticket, but to no avail.
It's not an urgent problem but would be nice to get fixed
anyone else had similar issues?
