Endsleigh - charge for ending contract

Hello All
Waaaay not happy that i just called to cancel my contents insurance policy with Endsleigh and they're charging me £58.91 to do so. I've been with them over a year and they say there's still a charge because every year they start the contract again. They said it was stated in my contract when i signed up. It probably was, i never read them nor would i be able to find it now if i searched the whole house! I said that i felt trapped and they advised me to cancel with the people i had gone to (Direct Line) and i said on principal i was leaving Endsleigh after hearing there was a fee. How awful, that means if we find a cheaper deal elsewhere we can't leave without penalty.

So why are you complaining? The information was there for you to read and you didn't bother. As you didn't read anything you don't know what you are buying - how do you know the policy offered the cover you need?

NO IT DOES NOT! It means if you cancel MID TERM you are charged a fee. If you simply don't renew your policy you are not charged (if you are charged then this is wrong). You failed to tell the broker not to renew the policy and so they are now charging you a fee.

You can decide not to renew with an insurer or broker without a penalty (unless you have entered into some kind of long term agreement, but this are things you get with commercial policies, not personal lines ones).

As you have bought through a broker there will be a broker admin charge and possibly an insurer one too.
