  • Primark rated most unethical place to buy clothes in Britain:

But then again, maybe they're not so bad:

Does the devil where Primark? Maybe, maybe not. However, he certainly owns Primark via his majority shareholding in Wittington Investments.
  • Having just had a trip to Primark, 40 mile journey so only shop there a couple of times a year, I thought when I saw the headline that it was my daughter that Martin was talking about

Love Primark...I have several items that people have actually stopped me in the street and asked where I bought it! I am careful what i buy there though, some of the items are much better quality than others, for instance i have a skirt on today, half circle with black and white embroidery in a lovely material, it is at least 18 moths old and washes and wears perfectly. An M and S skirt bought in the sale (obviously!) earlier this summer fell apart after a few washes.

I bought some of the spotted dresses earlier this summer as well and wore them half to death, was really chuffed to see them in the headlines as the most 'wanted' item of the year and apparently women were doing anything they could to lay their hands on one.

I don't buy their underwear though, I do like a bit of luxury and usually treat myself to Lepel. (Actually if I was truthful they don't stock bras big enough for someone like me who has a little more on top than is probably fashionable!).

I find Primark underwear lasts longer than anything I've bought (or been bought) at La Senza!

  • Wow, a movie star with as much sense as money!
Why is a movie star being sensible with money such a suprise? Many celebrities are very good managing money- some run very lucrative businesses as well as being film stars. Some celebrities are bad with money and ended in court over debts. There's too much emphasis on what celebrities do - many people have ended up in debt trying to keep up with what a particular group of people claim is 'cool' or the latest 'fashion'. It could also be argued that for some people value of money decreases as their wealth and income increases. Someone who has £x million in bank may not have to worry about spending £35 on a top - if you are on living on £65 a week benefits £35 is over half of your income.
