Transferring at LAX

Hi Everyone,

On Firday I'm flying from Heathrow to San Diego via LAX on American Airlines. Does anyone know how hard it is doing the internal transfer, both the inbound and outbound are both from T4. I'm assuming I have to go through baggage claim and then check in as if I was a new passenger.

Does anyone know if this is correct or if there is a short cut where I can load my case straight onto a transfer belt?

Thanks
Simon

  • I've only flown through LAX once with American Airlines for both the inbound and the outbound flight.

The process was that after you went through immigration you collected your suitcase, walked to customs and handed in your white form, walked past the hopeful doggies and then there was a group of luggage handling guys who took your bag and put it back into the baggage system to go on to your destination.

As above. If the flights are all on one ticket you won't have to check in again, just transfer the luggage after immigration and customs.

We found LAX very easy 10 days ago.
  • Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.
