Am I entitled to a refund?

In May I purchased a carpet cleaning/car upholstery valet machine from a UK ebay seller for £115, it came with a 12month warranty. I didnt use the machine for about 6 weeks, then when I tried it the spray trigger was leaking and the seller arranged for it to be sent back to the manufacturer for repair. The machine came back after a couple of weeks later and was working fine.
I have used the machine twice since then, the second time it developed another fault (due to poor design), but I was with someone who is an engineer and he fixed it using an uprated part (it was a minor part that connected the hose) and again the machine worked fine.
Yesterday I got the machine out to clean my car seats and no water was coming out the end, I took it off to give it a quick clean under the tap, when I put it back on the bloody trigger started leaking again
So, I've had the machine 4 months, used it 4 times, but it's only ever worked properly twice.
I contacted the seller yesterday asking for a refund as the equipment is rubbish, and I dont really want it repaired as I expect it will fail gain due to poor design. The seller said they will not refund after 7 days from purchase, but the can supply parts, or send it back to the manufacturer for repair.
Is there anything I can do about this or am I not entitled to a refund?
Thanks for any advice

Are they a business seller and what kind of listing was it? Classified ad, buy it now, normal auction ?You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

Yes they are listed as a business seller, it was a buy it now item. I wouldnt have bought from a private seller tbh.0

I would say no your not entitled to a refund as you tried to fix your self for all seller knows you could have broke it even more.0

Well the part that I replaced has nothing to do with the fault that has failed before and failed again now, it's nothing complicted, basically a metal nut to replace a doodgy plastic one.
My main concern is that I have to keep getting this machine repaired until the warranty runs out and then I'm stuck with it when it fails again. It's a poor design, that is obvious to me now0 -
Generally it is up to the retailer to decide whether they want to go for a refund, repair or replacement so I would say that they are within their rights to insist on returning it to the manufacturer. However, in your position, I would mention in writing that you are not happy with this as a long term solution so that if this happens again you will have more grounds to push for a refund or a replacement which doesn't have the same faults.0

Ok yeah that sounds fair enough. Dont get me wrong, I would be more than happy to keep the machine if I felt confident there will be no reocccuring problems, but I'm not very impressed so far.0
