Is anyone going to Lanzarote or coming back in the next couple of weeks - help needed

This sounds very dodgy, but I left a bag at the airport. I have just received an email confirming they have found it and would I like to come and collect it. It may be a bit of a push and expensive and I wondered if anyone was able to collect it as hand luggage?

If you are interested in helping, please pm me. The contents contain a couple of items of clothing, my hair straighteners, blow dryer and wait for it, Button Moon DVD and DVD player. I will of course collect it from the airport when you land (provided it is London airports) and could even drop you home as a thank you.

I appreciate it is a big ask but you never know.

  • Surely the airport/airline would be responsible for getting your luggage back to you ?

My sisters luggage went walkabout whilst she was returning from honeymoon and the airline delivered it straight to her door !

  • no, it was never checked in. Whilst I was parking the hire car back, the Mrs who was entrusted with all the bags took them into the airport and i thought it had been checked in. No, your right, my life is never dull!
  • And have you actually enquired with the airport whether or not they would be willing to fly your bag back to you ? You may have to pay the correct baggage fee but at least it would get the bag to an airport near your home . You can then go collect it from the airport yourself .

I honestly dont think the idea of asking someone to do this for you is guna work....

Strictly speaking, this would cause problems because the passenger would have to answer Yes to the 'Has anyone asked you to carry anything for them?' question. It would also take a very trusting (and arguably, somewhat foolish) person to collect the item for you.

I would agree with joanne d, ask if it is possible for the bag to be transported as unaccompanied baggage.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • just re-read your post and had to chuckle when i read what was in your bag......your hair staighteners ! Most men wouldnt have admitted to that......they would have said they belonged to their wife lol.
  • well, what can I say.

I have paid for a courier to collect it for me. Thankfully it was only £32 via DHL and thankfully the size didnt take it into thre £150 band as quoted elsewhere. So no need for any offers, but thanks all.
